GRIP PUPPY

Motorcycle Comfort Over-Grips

Fitting instructions and safety information Grip Puppy and Grip Puppy Big Paw.

Read these instructions fully before fitting. Keep them for future reference.

Grip Puppy over-grips fit over your motorcycle’s existing handlebar grips. Do not remove the original grips.

1. Before you begin

  • Check that you have the correct Grip Puppy variant for your motorcycle’s existing grips.

  • Park the motorcycle securely, switch off the engine and ignition, and allow heated grips to cool.

  • Inspect the original grips. They must be secure, clean, dry and free from damage, oil or grease.

  • Check that the throttle moves freely and returns correctly before fitting.

  • If the original grips are loose or damaged, or the throttle does not operate correctly, have the fault rectified before proceeding.

If you are unsure about compatibility or installation, ask a competent motorcycle technician.

2. Check the length and clearance

Hold each Grip Puppy alongside the original grip and check the required length.

The fitted over-grip must not rub against, become trapped by, or interfere with:

  • The throttle housing or switchgear.

  • Bar-end weights, handguards or other fixed parts.

  • Levers or other controls.

If trimming is necessary, mark the required length and remove the Grip Puppy from the motorcycle before cutting. Cut carefully on a suitable cutting surface, keeping hands clear of the blade. Trim a little at a time and recheck the fit.

Do not cut the over-grip while it is installed.

3. Fit the over-grips

  1. If necessary, remove bar-end weights or move handguards in accordance with the motorcycle or accessory manufacturer’s instructions.

  2. Lightly wet the inside of the Grip Puppy with very dilute soapy water.

  3. Work it progressively over the existing grip, avoiding excessive stretching or damage.

  4. Position it so that it sits fully on the original grip, with clearance from adjacent fixed parts.

  5. Repeat for the other side.

  6. Refit any removed components using the manufacturer’s specified procedure and tightening torque.

Do not use oil, grease, spray lubricants or other unapproved fitting chemicals. Do not force screwdrivers or other sharp tools between the grips.

4. Allow to dry completely

Allow the fitting solution to dry completely before using the motorcycle.

Drying time varies with conditions. Do not rely on a fixed waiting period or the outside surface feeling dry.

Once dry, check that each Grip Puppy is secure on the original grip and does not rotate or slide independently during normal hand operation.

If either over-grip moves, do not ride. Seek fitting advice.

5. Essential checks before riding

With the engine switched off:

  • Confirm that both over-grips are secure.

  • Check that all removed components have been correctly refitted.

  • Turn the handlebars slowly from full left lock to full right lock.

  • At each position, operate and release the throttle. It must move freely and return fully to its closed position without sticking or assistance.

  • Check that neither over-grip contacts adjacent fixed parts or restricts any control.

  • Wearing your usual riding gloves, confirm that you can comfortably reach and operate the throttle, clutch, brake and switches.

WARNING: Do not ride if the throttle sticks, returns slowly, fails to close fully, or either over-grip slips. Correct the cause before using the motorcycle. If in doubt, consult a competent motorcycle technician.

6. Checks during use

Before each ride, check grip security, clearance and free throttle operation.

Recheck after the first ride and after any adjustment to bar ends, handguards or controls.

Stop using the product if it becomes loose, damaged or deteriorated, or if it affects safe operation of the motorcycle.
